It all started in 2015, after another very busy day on the trading floor of a multinational investment bank. I, a bond salesperson, had just finished a gruelling day sitting in front of 4 screens, watching yet another tumble in the financial markets take place.

All I wanted to do was leave the office, head home, and get a massage to take the stress away at one of the spas in my area. The problem was there was no availability anywhere. There was never any availability when I called last minute. And it wasn’t just massages, it was any treatment I needed done… nails , hair, everything! I thought to myself, wouldn’t it be nice if someone could just come to my house when I needed them, instead of me having to block an entire weekend, weeks in advance, and trek to various locations.

I looked up mobile spa services in London, and sure there were a few companies out there that I tried. But none of them were really on demand (I still had to book days in advance), and none of them were particularly high quality, as therapists would arrive with various products and materials, which often frankly looked like they were taken from their own bathroom’s cabinets. Not one really ticked all the boxes.

After weeks of research and deliberation, the vision of USPAAH was formulated, and despite the incredulous and doubtful looks by friends and family, I decided to start building the company. “Great idea, (most of them said) but what do you know about spas?”… Or “Good luck with that! (I’d hear, with a mocking chuckle)… Most often it was “You want to quit a steady job in investment banking?? You should really think hard about that…”

For the most part, everyone was right. I didn’t know anything about spas, I would need a lot of luck to get it off the ground, and I was crazy to leave such a high paying job. What I did know however is that there were hundreds of thousands of people like myself in London that just needed a break! And I truly believed that if I pulled all my resources together, did my research and found a great team to execute the plan with, we could really create a company that is both successful and helpful to all those people in need.

Six months later, I had assembled a talented team of developers, we had designed the interface, and I had started recruiting my team of Sparistas – a term we coined to differentiate our highly skilled and carefully chosen professionals from the rest out there that are not USPAAH approved.

By Jan, 2016 our app was released on the App store, and we had managed to create a service that addressed all the issues I wanted: a real time booking system that fits in the palm of your hand, consistent quality guaranteed by carefully selected professionals and products, and most importantly a trusted and reputable brand that our clients would depend and rely on for years to come.

USPAAH was born with the aim to cater to the needs of you, busy Londoners, be it professionals or parents taking care of the house. We all deserve a little time for ourselves, and with our hectic schedules, fitting that in, is getting harder each day. I truly hope that what we have created is a new way to treat ourselves, a new way to get basic maintenance done, or get ready for a special occasion, a new way to lead a healthier life.

We are a cut above the rest in terms of the professional products we use, the ease of booking in just 3 taps, and the vigorous vetting standards we apply to our professionals. We are a full service company that is not just focusing on one aspect of your routine, we deliver a wide range of services from massages to beauty with a list of treatments that grows every month.

Our Sparistas are some of the most qualified in their field, often with more than 10 years of experience and multiple areas of qualification. They are friendly, knowledgeable, reliable, and most importantly, they are happy to work with USPAAH, as we offer them a higher compensation than anyone else out there. I strongly believe in rewarding people fairly, unlike regular spas and salons which pay as little as 20-30% of the value of the service. Socially responsible freelancing is not just a marketing slogan for us, it is a fundamental principle of our business. So every time you use our app, you can be sure that you are contributing towards the end, of what are often illegal and unethical practices in the health and beauty services field.

When I launched USPAAH, I believed there is a need for a better, more convenient way to deliver wellness treatments to busy Londoners. We raised our first seed round on Crowdcube in 2016, and since then we have grown total revenues, and clients over 800%. The incredible uptake we have seen from our customers only reinforces my believe that we are addressing a real pain point, and I am incredibly excited about what’s to come. With our second round of funding we can build much needed improvements to our technology, invest further in growing our team and service offering, so that we can continue to deliver wellness to busy city dwellers for years to come.
