The summer holidays are here, the kids, or your friends and families’ kids have finished school for 6 weeks, and you’re wondering what the hell you’re going to do, apart from chill out in the garden? If you’re in London however, don’t fear! Our favourite city transforms into a place of rooftop bars, outdoor theatres, drinking, eating and playing in the sun all day. So when the thermometer starts rising in the big smoke, here are our top ways to make the most out of the warmer weather costa del London style…
Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre
Summer in London means that it’s time to head to Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, which holds 1,250 seats in their outdoor auditorium. This year, the shows include Jesus Christ Superstar, A Tale Of Two Cities and Oliver Twist. Grab a Pimm’s (or an OJ for the kids!), and get your picnic on for a fun day of plays, musicals, and comedy performances.
The Rooftop Film Club
Whilst we’re on that outdoor vibe, why not hit The Rooftop Film Club, which has venues all over London in Peckham, Shoreditch, Stratford and Kensington. Choose from a range of old school classic’s like Breakfast At Tiffany’s, action packed golden oldie’s Top Gun, or Disney favourites Beauty And The Beast. We’re all about comfy deckchairs, panoramic city views, and great movies – who isn’t?
Dinosaurs at ZSL London Zoo
Between the 22 July and 3 September, ZSL London Zoo will take you back in time to a prehistoric world, that’s right, you’ll be coming face-to-face with moving dinosaurs. Launching on Saturday 22 July, presenter Andy Day will be hosting a weekend of free live shows to celebrate Dinosaurs, and you can get your tickets here. Cheers to pretending we’re extras in Jurassic World and here’s to hoping Chris Pratt will make a guest appearance too…what? A girl can dream!
Street Food
Now if there’s one thing we love more than a barbecue in the summer, it’s street food! Organised by the Street Feast family, you can choose from four different venues: Model Market, Dinerama, Hawker House, and Giant Robot, for a bunch of vans, caravans and food bikes gathering together for day and night-time residencies. We’re a sucker for Dinerama’s mini-burgers from Slider Bar, and their wood-fired pizzas from Fundi. Maybe even leave the kids at home for this one, and enjoy sunset sipping at the Island Bar, hey – there’s nothing wrong with treating yourself!
