Party Makeup – The Festive Edit

The power of party makeup can be considerable, as winter skin can look all over sun starved and dull from dehydration. So we’ve gathered the best new products on the block, designed to help you fake that glow, embrace your inner showgirl (if only for the night) and get your party game face on.

Preparation is key so be sure to exfoliate with time saving multi-taskers such as Exfolikate by Kate Sommerville. A healthy mix of AHA’s, salicylic acid, vitamins A, C and E reveal a glowing, fresh-from-the-facialist complexion.

Potions to perk up tired, dull skin. We just adore Oskia’s Get Up & Glow; this energising serum is akin to sunshine in a bottle a sheer, a pearlescent almost duo-crome gel it works by boosting the skin’s oxygen uptake it’s stacked with skin plumping peptides and – yes it does actually glow!

Prime: Long gone are the days when primers simply ensured that makeup lasted… new generation primers such as Charlotte Tilbury’s Wonderglow creates a light diffusing ethereal glow giving skin an instant “spotlight Effect”.

Base: Switch up your foundation for a more winter appropriate option, such as Aqua Glow by Stila. This ultra lightweight, water-based serum foundation helps to instantly smooth, hydrate and perfect the look of skin. It utilises multi-reflective colour pigments to optically bounce light off the skin.

Highlight or Illuminate: Less is more – Our Pro’s picks: Becca’s Champagne Pop highlighter. Delicately blend over cheekbones, down the bridge of the nose, over the cupids bow and across the upper brow bone for a subtle glow. Illuminate with Mac Strobe Cream. Pro Tip: Mix this into your day cream, foundation or pat over your finished makeup.

Cheeks: While in the summer your artfully applied cream blush can go from dewy glow to sweaty sheen in a matter of hours the cooler winter climate ensures a sweep of cream blush can be an effective short cut to a swish of lustre. Top Picks L’Eclat Cremeux by Kevyn Aucoin or get on trend with blush oils by the likes of LA beauty brand Milk.

Eyes: Take this season’s cue from makeup legend Pat McGrath whose work has graced countless fashion catwalks. Pat’s latest collection Metalmorphasis is the ultimate in metallic sheen a collection of sublime molten metal shades, brighten eyelids, line lids, gild lips, and metalize shoulders with sensuous shine. P.S Our Makeup artist’s are ready and waiting if you would rather leave it to the pros?

Lips: Plump for deep gothic reds as seen in the patent glosses by Dior in the A/W shows or mat ruby stains keeping liner invisible. For nudes glisten up with a swipe of a golden gloss like Sephora’s ultra shine gel in Sand.

Want full body dazzle? Apply Natasha Denona’s new body highlight powder “Glow” using a large fluffy brush to the décolleté, collar bones and limbs to make skin appear absolutely flawless. It’s all about bouncing off that light!

Finishing touches – get your party shoes on, a twist and a shake and your ready to go!

I’m really feeling The Winter blues right now. Had way too many colds, and lost my summer glow. Fed up with people saying “don’t you look pale”. Glamming up for Christmas would be fab, and given the chance I’m going there. I adore the glitter eyes, they are great.

Wow such great Christmas festive offers! I really keep meaning to try the Becca’s Champagne Pop highlighter, I’ve heard to many good things about it!

Love the glittery metallic eye make up look, and the vampy dark red lips. Becca’s Champagne Pop is such a classic too! x
